School Executive Coach Job Description

Purpose: The School Executive Coach, having content, instructional, and leadership expertise, will work as a coach and mentor principals and assistant principals. The School Executive Coach will focus on providing 1:1 individual coaching and, as assigned, group professional learning for principals and assistant principals on how to increase their leadership effectiveness.

Reports to: Superintendent

Payment Rate: Commensurate with experience

Employment Term: 12 Month, grant funded position

Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree in School Administration from an accredited college/university
2. Experience in education, with a minimum of five as a principal or district director
3. Current North Carolina Principal License.
4. Ability to self-direct and self-manage work schedule and outcomes
5. Knowledge of best-practices regarding adult learning and professional learning in education
6. Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills
7. Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
8. Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines
9. Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
10. Willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications
1. Doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from an accredited college/university
2. Ten or more years principal experience
3. Previous coaching experience

Essential Functions:
1. Support the philosophy and vision of Pitt County Schools
2. Facilitate the leadership development of school executives.
3. Provide 1:1 coaching to principals using maps and conversation from the district’s coaching model.
4. Obtain and maintain certification in coaching programs and assessment instruments
5. Supports school leaders in implementing best practices around transformational school culture heloping school principals build a culture of school collaboration and rigor focused on dramatic student achievement gains. Supports school principals in building the systems, routines, and proactive strategies to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
6. Collaborate with the Assistant Superintendents and Directors to implement a coaching process/model identified for principals. Establish short-term and long-term goals, creates action plans, supports implementation, and monitors school performance. Assists in school data collection and regularly assesses progress toward coaching goals.
7. Builds capacity for schools identified as high needs by coaching elementary or secondary school principals who have high potential to transform their schools and substantially improve academic performance. Mentors and coaches school leaders and their teams to implement best practices found in high-quality schools across the country. Provides targeted coaching on academic rigor, supervision, and observation of staff, and data driven instruction.

2. Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for school executives as needed.
3. Provide encouragement and emotional support to school executives.
4. Encourage ongoing professional growth for all school executives.
5. Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
6. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with school executives.
7. Perform other duties as assigned
