MTSS COORDINATOR - SOUTH MIDDLE SCHOOL (#1793)

Full-time MTSS Coordinator at South Middle School.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field. 

Qualifications: Must have or be eligible for a North Dakota teaching license. Experience with co-teaching and collaboration models. Experience working with students and families with diverse backgrounds. Working knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems and Supports including evidence based academic interventions and supports. Experience working with teams to analyze data to make decisions and solve problems.

Job Goal:   Work with school staff, students, and parents to provide high quality instruction that supports all learners in meeting rigorous standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Co-plan and co-teach with teachers, EL teachers, and special education teachers to provide high-quality standards based instruction to students in grades 6-8.
2. Establish and monitor a continuum of evidence based academic interventions and supports.
3. Work with school staff to regularly examine and progress monitor data to make instructional decisions.
4. Work with school staff to ensure implementation fidelity of Tier I, Tier II and Tier III interventions/supports and ensure high quality progress monitoring for students receiving these supports.
5. Communicate with families to support student success and facilitate a school/home partnership.
6. Communicate with, support, and train non-licensed paras and tutors in evidence based interventions and assessment tools.
7. Support school-wide culture of literacy and math.
8. Facilitate and participate in problem solving meetings with teams.
9. Participate in building-wide committees and leadership meetings.
10. Supervise students as needed.
11. Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with teachers, administrators, families, or community agencies and groups, regarding program questions, suggestions, concerns and/or Title 1 programming.
12. Review, understand and implement the requirements of federal mandates and North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
13. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.   

Evaluation: By the Principal at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December 15 & April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).

External applicants are allowed to bring in up to 11 years of teaching experience.

Teaching contract with 188 days.
