STUDENT BEHAVIOR FACILITATOR - CENTURY ELEMENTARY (#1800)

Full-time Student Behavior Facilitator at Century Elementary.

Education:  Masters degree in special education, social services, education, sociology or psychology. Board certification in behavior analysis is recommended.

Qualifications:  Experience working with children and school teams; excellent collaboration skills; make quick decisions to ensure safety and well-being of others; analyze data to inform instructional decisions; know when to initiate action; demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills; project a positive, cooperative and respectful attitude with students, parents, employees and community members. 

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Facilitator for elementary and middle school level students
2. Assist IEP and MTSS teams with developing and implementing student behavior support plans
3. Collaborate with case managers, special education coordinators, administrators and other school staff as a resource to support students’ social/emotional development and behavioral needs
4. Train special education staff on AIM program
5. Collaborate and create behavior invention plans with the help of IEP and MTSS teams
6. Set goals for behavioral changes, monitor students, assess progress and modify behavioral plans in conjunction with IEP and/or MTSS teams
7. Train staff on the behavior invention plans for students
8. Perform regular fidelity checks on adherence to plans
9. Provide behavioral support and collaboration to teachers and school staff
10. Regularly observe students across their educational environments
11. Record and analyze appropriate data to monitor student progress in identified areas
12. Actively participate in student MTSS support teams, as well serve on IEP teams, assume IWAR duties as appropriate
13. Attend meetings related to students
14. Perform other duties, as assigned

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. 

Occasionally may need to lift up to fifty (50); reaching, standing, walking, carrying, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and/or crawling within the classroom.

The employee may encounter situations where students are physically aggressive and/or verbally abusive. This may require physical interaction (using strategies acquired through de-escalation and restraint training) between the employee and student. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be exposed to infection at a greater risk than the average person. May be directly responsible for the safety, well-being and/or output of students.

Evaluation: By the Principal at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December 15 & April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).

External applicants are allowed to bring in up to 11 years of teaching experience.

Teaching contract with 188 days.
