Job Description

The Gilbert School, located in northwest Connecticut, is looking for a passionate, dynamic School Principal for Grades 7-12 with a CT #092 certification for the 2022/2023 school year.  The ideal candidate will have experience in leadership positions in middle school and/or high school levels.  The Gilbert School is a small school with a rich history and heritage who prides itself on a strong commitment to the academic and social emotional needs of all students.
 Job Description
REPORTS TO:            Head of School
QUALIFICATIONS:      As determined by the State Board of Education, 092
EVALUATION:             Annually by the Head of School
WORK YEAR:             As specified in the contract in force between the W. L. Gilbert
                                    School Corporation and the Gilbert Administrators Association 
Oversees the day-to-day operation of the school.
By the use of leadership, supervisory and administrative skills, manages the school so as to promote the educational development of each student.
Master Schedule
Oversee the school’s Guidance Department
Curriculum development & Atlas Coordinator
Professional Development
District Test Coordinator - Responsible for the coordination, scheduling, and implementation of all state-required testing and all College Board testing. 
Teacher Evaluation 
Exercises decisive leadership in crisis situations and works in conjunction with the school’s crisis team
Oversees, with the Strategic Planning Committees and the Department Chairs the development and implementation of curriculum and student activities.
Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school
Provides a safe and secure educational environment
Works with designated staff to assist the school in meeting the needs of exceptional students
Directs the activities of the school's professional and non-professional staff members in the performance of their duties.  
Works with designated staff to maintain and upgrade the school technology infrastructure and equipment as needed
Performs other duties as delegated by the Head of School
