Job Title: Student Personnel Officer
Report to: Superintendent/Building Principal
Department:
Number of days: 190; 8 hours per day
Compensation: Non-Administrative Salary Schedule
Date Job Revised: 10-21-16
Position Summary: To help students resolve challenges that are interfering with their getting the greatest benefit from the school’s educational opportunities and to help them achieve the fullest benefits from the school’s academic programs, service, and offerings.
Qualifications: Valid OKSDE Certification; Secondary
Essential Duties:
- Directs the intervention team to address grades, discipline, and attendance.
- Counsels with teachers, students and parents on behavioral issues
- Conducts Restorative Practices circles and other behavioral interventions
- Monitors student behavior to pre-empt and avert situations for positive campus safety and supervision
- Assists in the development and organization of student programs
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Shares with the principal/assistant principals the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of students
- Oversees all matters of chronic student attendance issues
- Makes recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting the student’s life in the school
- Assists in the interpretation of school policies and procedures to students, parents, and community
- Works with community and government agencies on problems relating to drug abuse and truancy from school
- Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security
- Assists with campus supervision
- Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel in an attempt to resolve individual student issues of discipline, achievement, and/or welfare
- Assists with supervisory responsibility for student activities, athletic events, programs of student orientation, and similar activities
- Assists in the organization and maintenance of the Student Advocacy Program
- Counsel with students, parents and teachers concerning problems of pupil adjustment
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
