Job Goal:

To serve as the chief administrator of a school in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualizes the broad goals of the school and plans accordingly to ensure that procedures and schedules are implemented to carry out the total school program.
2. Develops, implements, and evaluates the instructional program of the school.
3. Ensures that the school program is compatible with the legal, financial, and organizational structure of the school system
4. Defines the responsibilities and accountability of staff members.
5. Prepares and submits the school’s budgetary requests and assumes accountability for all monies.
6. Develops plans for interpreting the school program to the community.
7. Provides activities which facilitate the professional growth of the school staff and enhance the quality of the instructional program. 
8. Identifies the annual objectives for the instructional, extra-curricular, and athletic programs of the school.
9. Ensures the instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed.
10. Involves the faculty and others (i.e., curriculum specialists, parents, students, etc.) in the development of specific curriculum objectives to meet the needs of the school program.
11. Provides oversight to the services provided to students in the school (i.e., counseling, social work, exceptional education, etc.) 
12. Gives leadership to the development and implementation of a system for evaluating student progress by means that include the maintaining of up-to-date student data. 
13. Observes classroom instruction and gives supervisory assistance.
14. Appraises and evaluates the performance of the school staff, according to established policies and procedures 
15. Orients and assists new staff members and new students. 
16. Recommends to the Superintendent or designee relative to professional and non-professional staff employment, promotions, dismissals, and transfers within the school. 
17. Provides opportunities for staff participation in the school program. 
18. Maintains inter-school system communication and seeks assistance from Central Office Staff to improve performance. 
19. Maintains good relationships with students, staff, and parents. 
20. Maintains a school atmosphere conductive to good teaching and learning. 
21. Complies with established lines of authority 
22. Provides opportunities whereby students can have appropriate input into the educational program. 
23. Encourages the use of community resources; Cooperates with the community in the use of school facilities. 
24. Interprets the school program to the community. 
25. Has procedures for receiving suggestions, distributing information and receiving input from the community. 
26. Cooperates in the school’s relationship with the universities in the area as requested by the superintendent. 
27. Works cooperatively with the Finance Office to assure coordination of the school’s financial operations with those of the school’s financial operations with those of the school system.  Involves the staff in determining priorities for instructional supplies. 
28. Oversees services provided to in the school (i.e., custodial, transportation, food, etc.)
29. Establishes and implements scheduled maintenance inspection of school plant and grounds. 
30. Manages, directs, and maintains records on the materials, supplies, and equipment which are necessary to carry out the daily school routine. 
31. Establishes and implements procedures for the appropriate distribution and inventorying of materials, supplies, and equipment.
32. Performs other duties as assigned or required. 

Terms of Employment:

Twelve-month position. Salary in accordance with adopted schedule.

Evaluation:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
