Job Description

Job purpose
Provide clinical counseling/therapy services (home or school) to youth and families, implementing evidence based mental health interventions in collaboration with the treatment team and providing crisis intervention support as needed.
Duties and responsibilities
• Align practice and work with the agency mission, vision, guiding principles, the trauma-
informed Sanctuary Model®, the Neurosequential Model and the Re-ED philosophy.
•Engage in ongoing evaluation and assessment of children, youth and families, identifying treatment needs to be addressed in the client’s Individual Service Plan.
• Work collaboratively with all team members, including parents and other professionals, to implement the Individual Service Plan and achieve the best possible outcomes for every client.
• Provide and document individual and family therapy in alignment with client’s needs and the recommendations as documented in the mental health assessment and to meet therapeutic goals as stated in service/treatment plan.
• Maintain cooperative relationships with schools/day treatment staff and other service providers in coordinating treatment plans/services.
• Assist in the organization, writing, monitoring and review(s) of client’s individual treatment plan(s).
• Assist with the assessment, management, and resolution of crisis situations with client, client’s assigned case manager and their families which require 24/7 on call responsibilities.
• Empower the client and family by enhancing their ability to identify areas of need
and seek out and negotiate appropriate resources as they move toward greater independence.
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork in a timely fashion in accordance with PEP policy and procedures.
• Transport clients, as needed, for scheduled appointments or in crisis situations.
• Achieve the agency defined productivity requirements.
• Complete assigned duties competently and within expected time frames.
• Display professionalism and team-oriented attitudes.
• Maintain professional licensure, if applicable.
• Utilize knowledge of clients and their strengths in treatment planning.
• Participate (and pass requirements where applicable) in all required trainings, including but not limited to, Vehicle Safety, First Aid, CPR, Blood Borne Pathogens, and Standards of Practice.
• Participate in staff development activities, team meetings, and staff meetings as scheduled or assigned.
• As a representative of the agency and profession, present self with decorum and in dress that is appropriate to the day’s activities.
• Ability to work respectfully with culturally diverse populations.
• Utilize safe work practices for self and others.
• Demonstrate word processing skills and program navigation skills.
• Ability to be well organized and utilize effective time management skills.
• Adhere to PEP policies and procedures.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree in social science, sociology or psychology preferred.
• Current mental health licensure required.
• Knowledge and understanding of mental health diagnoses, symptomotology and treatment programming of children/youth.
• Knowledge and experience in providing therapeutic services, specifically, individual and family counseling.
• Knowledgeable in various therapeutic interventions and assessments.
• Experience working with behaviorally/emotionally challenged children/youth.
• Communicate accurately and effectively, both written and orally.
• Demonstrate effective decision-making skills and utilize good judgment.
• Knowledge of mental health services in the community.
• Work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others.

Physical requirements
• Ability to use a computer and keyboard (eye-hand coordination and repetitive movements related to keyboarding).
• Ability to move around the center/community and sit and stand for more than an hour at a time.
• Ability to visually and auditorily assess and monitor the mental health status of students for safety purposes.
• Ability to meet driver eligibility standards in order to transport clients in personal vehicle.
