ROY ELEMENTARY __ PE/ TSSA TEACHER AIDE (#18640)

Purpose Statement
The job of Elementary Teachers Aide was established for the purpose/s of assisting assigned teaching personnel in the supervision and instruction of students, and performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
•  Guides students in independent study (e.g. enrichment work, remedial work, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring student success.
•  Implements, under the supervision of assigned teacher, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of assisting the teacher in improving students' academic success through a defined course of study.
•  Monitors individual students, classroom, library, playground activities, etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
•  Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the teacher and/or administrator in providing records/materials.

(Physical Ed-PE Aide)

PURPOSE STATEMENT: The job of PE aide was established for the purpose/s of providing for the safety and welfare of students during activities.

Essential Functions:

• Facilitates games among students (e.g. hands out equipment, balls, etc.) for the purpose of providing age appropriate activities.
• Intervenes in potential emergency situations for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of playground activities and/or injury to involved students.
• Implements, under the supervision of the principal, instructional programs and lesson plans for the purpose of providing age appropriate engaging physical activities.
• Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (e.g. rest rooms, playgrounds, etc) for the purpose of ensuring the safety and welfare of students.
• Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safely conditions, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
• Responds to emergency situations for te purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Other duties as assigned.
2. Must be able to operate equipment used in playground activities; and adhering to safety practiced; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

3. Must have knowledge of age appropriate activities; safety practices and procedures and stages of child development.

4. Must be able to communicate with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; and working with constant interruptions.

Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Not limited to the following:
1. Physically able to actively participate in class activities.
2. Physical, mental, and emotional requirements will be developed when needed for purposes of reasonable accommodation.

Education: High School Graduation.

• Must have knowledge of instructional/tutorial procedures and practices; intervention techniques; age appropriate activities; stages of child development; and safety practices and procedures.
