Job Description

The Literacy Integrationist (LI) of the Hartford Area Career and Technology Center (HACTC) increases the academic achievement for all students by supporting teachers as they focus more intentionally on literacy instruction and assessment. The LI is on a teacher contract and is not a supervisory position. The LI reports to the Director of the HACTC.

Qualifications: The LI possesses a secondary teaching license in the State of Vermont and has background and experience in literacy education/coaching.

Job Duties:

  • Learns and understands all of the program curriculums at the HACTC
  • Assists program instructors in the development of their lesson plans and ensures that lesson plans are related to the program proficiencies
  • Works with instructors on integrating literacy skills into their programs
  • Provide Professional Development for teachers and staff in regards to the teaching and assessment of literacy skills
  • Assists program instructors with integrating appropriate technology into program curriculums, including introducing students to the Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sites, Gmail)
  • Helps to develop and maintain resources and systems with teachers as it pertains to the digital assessment tool (DAT- an online portfolio)
  • Strives to be a visible presence in all programs
  • Creates, develops, and maintains strong curricular relationships with all sending schools
  • In partnership with the Math Integrationist and the Assistant Director of Adult Ed and Curriculum, organizes and leads two meetings a year of the Curriculum Advisory Board
  • Provides resources and assists with the grading categories (on MI one too?)
  • Works as part of the Hazing, Harassment and Bullying team and investigates cases as needed
  • Assists in creating a strong social media presence for the HACTC
  • Serves as a member of the recruitment team and performs tasks as needed around recruitment
  • Attends all meetings as assigned by the Director
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director
