Paul Cuffee School Middle School nurtures the development of individuals within a vibrant and supportive community of learners. We provide a rigorous curriculum focused on the development of independent, critical thinkers and involved citizens. Each student has a home base, or advisory, with one of his or her core-subject teachers. Students come to advisory first thing in the morning to hand in homework, get ready for the day, and have a morning meeting. Once a week, students have “wellness” in their advisories, during which they participate in activities aimed at teaching community building, conflict resolution, healthy choices, and other areas affecting health and well-being. The advisor serves as the student’s primary advocate and communicator between home and school. The teaching staff is organized into grade-level teams who teach only grade 6, 7, or 8. This allows those teachers to work closely together to support one group of students.
