English Acquisition Program Coordinator

Purpose Statement
The job of English Acquisition Program Coordinator is done for the purposes of providing Tolleson Union High School District with leadership in the development, implementation and coordination of the District’s English Language Learner (ELL) education services.
        1.     Master’s degree.
        2.     Administrative certification preferred.
        3.     Evidence of experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of Arizona Academic Standards.
        4.     Evidence of leadership in delivery of professional development for teachers and administrators.
        5.     Evidence of strong interpersonal skills.
        6.     Evidence of collaborative leadership.
        7.     Excellent communication skills.
Performance Responsibilities
  1. Coordinates appropriate and uniform procedures for identification, evaluation and placement of English Language Learners.
  2. Develops and oversees design, delivery and alignment of curriculum to the English Language Proficiency Standards, correlation to Language Arts standards, and district assessments.
  3. Collaborates with curriculum work groups in the study and development of Tolleson Union High School District Curricula.
  4. Collaborates productively as a team member with the principals, the teaching staff, and site based teams.
  5. Assists the curriculum work groups in planning and implementation of staff development to support curriculum initiatives.
  6. Supports teachers in the district with training and the use of SEI strategies.
  7. Coordinates the administration of Bilingual/ELL Education.
  8. Assists with budgets, amendments, periodic reports, completion reports and end of the year evaluations for above programs.
  9. Serves as a resource to principals, teachers and district administration.
  10. Prepares program reports for the Governing Board as needed.
  11. Maintains personal professional development by involvement in professional organizations and through professional conferences and readings.
  12. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Responsible To: Director of English Acquisition Programs
Terms of Employment: Eleven-month, full-time
Evaluation: This position will be evaluated annually as outlined in Governing Board Policy
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: Tier III on the Administrative/Professional Services Salary Schedule
