Adult Education Career Counselor/Advisor
Part-Time
General Description: The Part-time/As-needed Adult Education Career Counselor/Advisor will provide information and guidance for students for MVCTC programs and in general including but not limited to the following:
- Conduct follow up appointments for potential students
- Provide one-on-one career guidance
- Provide advising for short and long-term goal setting in order for student to complete and plan for future education, training, and/or job searches
- Interpret learning styles and apply as needed
- Work with MVCTC staff to meet the needs of adult students
- Facilitate advising based on individual standardized assessment results
- Report data for student tracking and communication with adult education staff
- Interpret WorkKeys and facilitate remediation and bridge classes
- Provide initial information about the Financial Aid process
- Be available for evening appointments
- Work a moderately flexible schedule; Monday through Thursday
Qualifications:
- Must hold a Bachelor’s Degree
- Adult Education experience and counseling/advising experience preferred
- Must possess an interest in working with adults
- Ability to plan and implement program and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned
- Ability to adapt to changing program requirements
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students and peers
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Possess excellent human relations skills and serve as a role model for students
Length of Contract: Part-Time/As-Needed
Salary: $28 per hour (as of July 1, 2022)
