Job Description

Job Description: Saint Mary School in Shrewsbury is seeking a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2022-2022 school year to become part of our Early Childhood Team. The individual will be responsible for establishing a faith-based, nurturing, and child-centered environment which focuses on the development of the whole child.

Minimal Qualifications: The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in the area of early childhood education and has completed the requirements of a Massachusetts Teaching License (PreK-2).

Prior classroom experience preferred.

The candidate must also successfully complete a criminal history and background check (CORI), fingerprinting, and safe environment (VIRTUS) training.


· Recognize and support the mission of the school by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church

· Possess a caring and kind personality, hard-working nature, and strong interpersonal skills

· Supervise and accept responsibility for the safety and well-being of all students

· Recognize and support the academic and social/emotional needs of each child

· Demonstrate current, thorough knowledge of a developmentally appropriate curriculum and implement instruction in an effective, engaging, and creative manner

· Organize classroom learning and materials to maximize student time on tasks and motivate student learning

· Establish a consistent disciplinary approach which promotes self-direction and positive self- image

· Understand the importance of play as a critical component of a strong early childhood program

· Incorporate technology into the learning environment in a proficient manner

· Communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues (including written, verbal, public speaking, and presentation skills)

· Maintain complete and accurate record keeping through the use of formal and informal assessments and observations and effectively communicate this information to parents

· Demonstrate, at all times, professional responsibility in enforcing diocesan and school policies and regulations

· Maintain confidentiality of information and comply with employee standards of conduct

· Perform other duties as assigned by the principal and attend required meetings and events throughout the school year
