Job Description

Nantucket Public Schools seeks a licensed clinical social worker(LICSW) with a strong understanding of behavioral interventions, trauma informed practice, and ability to provide individual and group behavioral services to students in grades 6-12 with diagnosed social, emotional and/or behavioral needs.

The primary function of the LICSW is to re-integrate and prevent out of district placements while addressing SEL and behavioral needs in the least restrictive environment. The school social worker will provide clinical therapy and specialized mental health intervention services to individuals, groups (and families) and provide consultation and interventions regarding home and community factors which may impinge upon a student’s school functioning. Additionally, the school-based social worker serves as the school's liaison with local agencies as well as collaborates with the school based SEL team and district behavioral health team. Service delivery includes counseling sessions to be held through the month of July.

    Job Requirements

    • Other responsibilities may include collaboration with outside agencies and community resources, school based MTSS team, SEL instructional team, and serving as part of the school professional learning community.

      Master’s Degree in Social Work REQUIRED
      LICSW Certification REQUIRED
      Massachusetts DESE license valid for School Social Worker (LICSW) preferred
      Two or more years experience working with students with emotionally based behavioral challenges required
      Clinical experience preferred
      Excellent communication and organizational skills
      Ten month position

    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
