Welcome to Paul Cuffee School!
Established in 2001, Paul Cuffee School is an independent K-12 public charter school for 800+ Providence youth. Students are admitted by a state mandated, randomized public lottery. Siblings and children of employees are given waiting list preference. Our predominantly low-income population identifies as 90% non-white, and 19% have diagnosed special needs. Social and civic responsibility, life-long learning, and academic achievement distinguish our community as does our inclusive school culture, small class sizes and differentiated instruction. In 2018, Paul Cuffee High School was ranked by US News and World Report as the best charter public high school in Rhode Island and listed fifth among the top district high schools in the state. While we are proud of this recognition, we are committed to improving student outcomes every year.
